Volunteers

Dedicated volunteers make every Doors Open event more successful. Many enjoy it so much that they join us every year!

If you would like to meet great people, learn about Peterborough’s heritage, and have fun  – come along! We can always find a job for you, even if you only have a couple of hours to donate. It is not crucial to have an interest in history, art, heritage, design, architecture and/or construction.

We welcome secondary school students doing their community hours, college and university students in related program areas, retirees, heritage buffs, community groups and anyone else who is willing and able to help out. 

During the day-long event, we need:

• Greeters
• Survey takers
• Guides
• Runners either by car or bike to deliver supplies during the event

As a DOP 2011 volunteer, you might be called upon to welcome visitors, interpret maps, direct people to nearby sites, or give advice on where to eat and where to park.

Prior to the event we need:

• Site package assemblers – one week before the event
• Drivers to deliver site packages, balloons and signs
